Minister Imipas Prepares Super Strict Security Prisons On The Island

JAKARTA - Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) Agus Andrianto said his party would prepare a modern concept prison with supermaximum security in the middle of the island.

Agus Andrianto while visiting the Class I Penitentiary (Lapas) Medan, North Sumatra, said the construction of the prison was one of the tasks of President Prabowo Subianto to him.

"Mr. President aspires to build a modern correctional institution, a supermaximum security whose place is on a remote island, is being prepared," Agus said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 25.

Agus also reminded inmates or inmates in Medan prison not to do anything in order not to be transferred to prisons with super security in Nusakambangan, Central Java.

"I ask to live and behave well here. Don't let anyone do anything wrong here, I'll send it to Nusakambangan Island," he said.

During the visit, Agus had lunch with the inmates.

He explained that his presence was a form of concern and concern for the inmates who are currently serving a criminal period.

"We are both honorable. Our position is the same in the eyes of God Almighty, the only difference is that all of you are familiar in prison to be better," he said.

In addition, Agus accompanied by the Director General of Corrections Mashudi also visited the work activities of the Medan Prison which became a center for activities and development of work skills for inmates.

Previously, the Ministry of Imipas had transferred nearly 1,000 high-risk inmates from various regions in Indonesia to Nusakambangan since the leadership period of Minister Imipas Agus Andrianto.

In a separate statement, Agus said that the redistribution of prisoners was not only about moving physically, but also about efforts to save other inmates from drug exposure and other negative activities.

Redistribution is also to save the inmates at high risk from continuous violations that endanger others and damage themselves.

"This is about how we save this noble-purpose correctional system," said Agus.
