Toddler Murder Victim In Singkawang Allegedly Experienced Physical Violence

JAKARTA - The attorney for the family of a toddler victim who died as a result of the murder in Singkawang, Charlie Nobel, said that based on an autopsy conducted by the police on Friday (19/6) it was suspected that there were irregularities experienced by RF toddlers.

The irregularity seemed to have a wound on the victim's ear. Apart from the ear, there were also scratch wounds on the victim's forehead. It is strongly suspected that the victim previously experienced abuse by the perpetrator.

"Regarding the cause, the police are still investigating," Charlie said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, June 22.

His party will also continue to oversee the handling of this case thoroughly and fully hand it over to the police.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Singkawang Police, AKP Deddi Sitepu, in his statement said the autopsy was carried out to determine the cause and time of death so that it could open this case clearly.

"From the results of the external post-mortem, we found several irregularities. Hopefully, this autopsy can shed light on the incident," he said.

He explained that the autopsy of the 1-year-old and 11-month-old toddler who had been buried was carried out together with the West Kalimantan Regional Police Biddokkes at the At Taqwa Mosque cemetery, Jalan RA Kartini, Sekip Lama Village, Central Singkawang District at the request of the victim's family.

He also said the autopsy was carried out by dismantling the RF's body which was witnessed by the attorney and the victim's family with the aim of making light of a series of criminal acts suspected of losing the life of the late RF.

"Hopefully, this series of autopsies can shed light on the cause and time of death of RF's toddler," he said.

In addition, based on an external examination (visum outside) carried out by the doctor at the Abdul Aziz Hospital Singkawang, that there were scars on the victim's face and hands.

"So the family requested an autopsy to confirm the cause of these injuries," he said.

The results of the post-mortem are different from the confession of the suspect who admitted that the child was only covered with the victim's mouth and nose with his hands. All autopsy procedures are carried out by prioritizing aspects of legality and ethics, and have obtained permission from the family and related authorities.

The forensic team conducted an external initial examination to look for indications of injuries, bruises, or other signs of violence that could strengthen suspected criminal acts. Subsequently, an internal autopsy was carried out by opening certain body parts to examine the condition of the internal organs and taking tissue samples for laboratory analysis.

"The results of this autopsy process will later become an important part in disclosing the cause of death of the victim scientifically and supporting evidence in the investigation process. Detailed documentation is also carried out for the purposes of legal administration and further investigation by the police, and will be submitted next week," he said.

He emphasized that his party was committed to handling this case in a professional, transparent and complete manner. The exhumation and autopsy process is part of an effort to bring justice to victims and families, as well as a tangible form of law enforcement against violence against children in the jurisdiction of the Singkawang Police.
