Mode Of Buying Cigarettes, Teenager Recorded CCTV Stealing 3Kg LPG Gas Cylinders At Warung

JAKARTA - A teenager was caught on CCTV surveillance cameras while stealing a subsidized LPG gas cylinder at a grocery shop in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta.

Based on Andika's statement, the shop owner, the perpetrator in his action pretended to buy cigarettes at his shop. The perpetrator came riding a motorbike with two of his friends waiting on the motorbike.

"It happened last night at 9 o'clock, when they pretended to buy cigarettes with their friends. The perpetrator came out, suddenly came back and took gas. The perpetrator initially bought cigarettes and then came back and took gas," Andika told reporters at the location, Sunday (22/6/2025).

The victim only discovered the theft after he suspected the perpetrator's actions after the theft occurred. The victim also saw the CCTV footage and it was true that the teenager had stolen a subsidized LPG gas cylinder.

"I suspect, I checked the CCTV, it turned out that the culprit was right to buy cigarettes," he said.

Andika said the perpetrator stole a subsidized LPG gas cylinder that was still fully occupied.

"What was taken was 3 kilograms of gas, all of which contained it. The perpetrators were still young, still in school, they were still children," he said.

In the CCTV footage, according to Andika, one teenager stole the gas cylinder.

"So one person took him, two people waited on the motorbike. When it happened I was inside, I didn't focus on the shop because my son was sick," he said.

For this incident, the victim plans to make a police report in the near future. Meanwhile, video recordings of the theft have been widely spread on social media to provide the effect of social sanctions on the perpetrators.
