JAKARTA - The Israeli military claimed to have attacked dozens of military targets in Iran overnight, including missile production sites and nuclear research facilities in the capital Tehran.

"Several locations of the missile manufacturing industry in Iran's Tehran region were attacked," Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

Israeel said its air troops attacked the production site of missile components and rocket engines.

"These locations were built over the years and are the center of Iran's Ministry of Defense's industrial center," he claimed.

More than 60 Air Force fighter jets were involved in the attack.

Among the targets attacked was the headquarters of Iran's SPND program, a defense research and development agency that the US said was the direct successor to Iran's nuclear program before 2004, according to the IDF.

The US State Department imposed sanctions on scientists and entities linked to the SPND in May over concerns their work could pose a material risk of contributing to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
