JK: Case 4 Of Aceh Island Becomes The Government's Learning To Policy

JAKARTA - The 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla said the polemic of the four Aceh islands would be a good lesson for the government, especially in policy making about Aceh.

This was conveyed by Jusuf Kalla after receiving a visit from Wali Nanggroe Aceh Tengku Malik Mahmud at his private residence on Jalan Brawijaya, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 17.

"So, for all of us, this is a lesson. This is the first case after 20 years ago that if we want to make a decision, we will read the Aceh Law properly, MoU Helsinki, because it is clear there. If you want to make a decision or anything related to Aceh, you must know and consult and agree with the Aceh government, but this is not done," said JK, Jusuf Kalla's nickname reported by ANTARA.

JK also emphasized the importance of understanding history and understanding existing laws before taking policies or actions.

JK also expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto and his staff for acting quickly in resolving the polemic problems of the four islands.

"Once again, thank you to the President, thank you Minister of Home Affairs, and also the Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Mr. Dasco, who chaired this meeting. Of course, he also has a good view of course," said JK.

Wali Nanggroe Aceh Tengku Malik Mahmud visited JK's residence after the government returned the status of Panjang Island, Lipan Island, Mangkir Gadang Island, and Mangkir Kepek Island to the administrative area of Aceh Province.

Malik expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto for acting quickly to resolve the polemic between Aceh Province and North Sumatra about the four islands.

"As Wali Nanggroe Aceh, I thank God, thank God for the recent polemic problem of the four islands. I hereby thank the President, to our officials who resolved the problem, including the Minister of Home Affairs," said Tengku Malik.

Malik admitted that he was worried that the government had made the wrong step in making the decision. However, it was feared that it would not happen and he was sure that the people of Aceh were happy with the President's decision on the four islands.

"I am quite happy because the problem has been resolved and this is a wise decision. Otherwise, I will be worried that there will be another turmoil between North Sumatra and Aceh," he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to JK for helping solve the problem.

"I thank Mr. Jusuf Kalla for dealing with us in advance. He also helped solve this problem," he said.
