Entering The Prabowo Coalition, PDIP Is Still Difficult To Get Rid Of Jokowi's Heritage In The Cabinet

JAKARTA - Political observer at Esa Unggul University, M Jamiluddin Ritonga, believes that PDIP is still difficult to get rid of Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) legacy in the Red and White Cabinet even though he has formally joined the Prabowo Subianto government coalition.

"It is difficult because not a few ministers in the Jokowi era came from political parties in strategic positions," he said, Sunday, June 8, 2025.

He gave an example, Prabowo will get resistance from Golkar if he removes Bahlil Lahadalia. Likewise with Zulkifli Hasan who will definitely cause resistance from PAN. "Moreover, the majority of them have supported Prabowo from the start, different from the PDIP, for example, later they will actually join," he added.

According to Jamil, if PDIP really intends to clean up the heritage ministers from the Jokowi era, then it can only target names that do not come from political parties, such as Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie Setiadi.

"For example, if the names are evicted from the cabinet, of course, it is unlikely that even resistance from any political party will emerge," he said.

Previously, some time ago, the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi met with PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

The meeting gave a signal that PDIP would join President Prabowo Subianto's government.

Along with the PDIP news that in the near future it will formally join President Prabowo Subianto's governing coalition, various political speculations have emerged, including cleaning up the Red and White Cabinet of Joko Widodo's heritage ministers.
