Kremlin Responds To Donald Trump's Comments On Ukraine's Situation

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump may have his own point of view on the situation in Ukraine, but for Russia it is a matter of national interests and the future of the country, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The US president may have his own perspective on what is happening. For us, this is a matter of existence, a matter of our national interests, security, and the future of our children," Peskov told reporters on Friday (5/6).

"This is about the future of our country," he added.

He made the remarks when commenting on Trump who likened the Russia-Ukraine conflict to a fight between two boys.

Despite this, Peskov said that Moscow and Washington are still in a relationship and communication through various channels.

"It is important for Russia to continue in contact with the US," he said.

"The United States continues to strive to resolve the conflict through mediation efforts. Therefore, we thank the United States," Peskov said.
