RIAU - Pekanbaru District Attorney (Kejari) arrested a convicted person in a corruption case of community empowerment activities based on the Citizens Association (PMB-RW) in Kampar, Riau who has been on the run since 2021.

"Kejari Pekanbaru managed to capture the wanted list (DPO) on behalf of Fauzan, related to corruption cases," said Head of the Intelligence Section of the Pekanbaru Kejari, Effendy Zarkasyi in Pekanbaru, Thursday, June 5, as reported by Antara.

Fauzan continued, he was secured without a fight at his hiding house in Gunung Bungsu Village, XIII Koto Kampar District, on Wednesday, June 4 at around 19:44 WIB.

This was after his whereabouts were discovered based on public reports that came in via direct message (DM) to the official Pekanbaru Kejari Instagram account.

The arrest was made by the Executing Prosecutor's Team led by the Head of Special Crimes Niky Junismoro accompanied by the Head of Subsidy for Prosecution, Extraordinary Legal Efforts, and Execution Muhammad Ikhsan Awaljon Putra, as well as Pidsus and Intelligence personnel. The operation also coordinated with the Kampar Kejari and Koramil 0312-12/XII Koto Kampar.

"The Prosecutor and his team monitored his whereabouts and succeeded in arresting and executing the law at Gobah Prison, Pekanbaru," said Effendy.

Fauzan is a convict in a corruption case in PMB-RW activities and the Tenayan Raya Sub-District Fund for Fiscal Year 2019. In this case, he acted as a companion to Tenayan Raya District and was sentenced to an in-district trial at the Pekanbaru Corruption Court on May 25, 2023 with a sentence of 5 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 100 million, subsidiary to 3 months in prison.

Fauzan's colleague in this case, former Tenayan Raya Sub-district Head Abdimas Syahfitra, was also sentenced to a similar verdict and was required to pay compensation for state financial losses amounting to Rp493 million, subsidiary to 1 year in prison.

Di tempat yang sama, Kasi Pidsus Niky Junismoro mengatakan saat penangkapan dilakukan, Fauzan sedang beraktivitas di rumahnya dan tidak melakukan slawan.

"He realized that this case must be legally accounted for," he added.

Fauzan has been a DPO since the investigation stage in 2021 and is known to often move locations, but is still in the Kampar area. Fauzan is the last DPO at the Pekanbaru Kejari and currently there are no more DPOs that are the responsibility of the Pekanbaru Kejari
