The two construction workers who died from being shot were Rahmat Hidayat (45) and Saepudin (39), residents from Purwakarta, West Java.

The two of them were currently working on the construction of the GKI Church, Imanuel Kampung Kwantapo. The shooting occurred at around 08.30 WIT, which was carried out by two gunmen who passed by and immediately shot the victim.

From the testimony of witnesses, the two victims tried to escape before finally being chased and executed by the KKB.

"The joint team from the Jayawijaya Police and the Cartenz Peace Operations Gakkum Task Force went directly to the scene to conduct a crime scene investigation and evacuate the victim's body," said Brigadier General Pol. Farizal.

Currently, the situation in Kuantapo Village is declared vulnerable but under control and the security forces are still on standby and conducting patrols.

Earlier on May 28, KKB also shot a member of the Jayawijaya Police, Bripka Marsidon, in the courtyard of the Wamena Hospital, shortly after escorting the traffic accident victim.
