The NTB Regional Police confirmed that cases of alleged sexual harassment of a number of students at the Mataram State Islamic University (UIN) have now moved up to the investigation stage.
Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police, Kombes Syarif Hidayat, said the legal process against the alleged case involving a lecturer with the initials W was being accelerated to strengthen evidence.
"So, the legal process for this sexual harassment case has entered the investigation. Hopefully it can be completed quickly and completed," Syarif told reporters in Mataram, Antara, Thursday, May 22.
W is known to be an active lecturer at UIN Mataram who has now been deactivated by the campus. So far, his status is still as an alleged perpetrator.
The determination of the suspect, said Syarif, will be carried out if investigators have pocketed at least two sufficient pieces of evidence.
"In addition to collecting evidence, investigators are also still strengthening the criminal element," he said.

"The two places are the dormitory rooms where W lives and the meeting room at the UIN Mataram secretariat building," said Syarif.
As part of the investigation process, the police have also conducted crime scene (TKP) in both locations. During the activity, the victim and the alleged perpetrator demonstrated 65 scenes: 49 scenes were taken in the dormitory room and 16 scenes in the meeting room.
