KUPANG Operations Team Pekat Turangga 2025 from the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police arrested four people suspected of being involved in online prostitution in Kupang City. The arrest took place on Tuesday, May 20 evening in Fatulululi Village, Oebobo District.
The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Henry Novika Chandra, said that this arrest was part of a routine police operation in eradicating community ills.
"This operation was led by AKP Hady Samsul Bahri and IPTU Muhamad Tahir. Four people were arrested at the location, consisting of three women and one man aged 16 to 25 years," Henry told reporters in Kupang, Antara, Wednesday, May 21.
Henry said, one of the four people who were arrested was still an active student at one of the Vocational Schools in Kupang City. The other two are female students and a daily worker.
"In order to protect privacy and ensure a fair legal process, we do not publish their identities completely," he said.
From the scene of the incident, officers confiscated a number of evidences, including cell phones, contraceptives, and cigarette packs allegedly related to these illegal activities.
The four people have now been handed over to the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the NTT Police for further investigation.
According to Henry, this operation is part of Turangga 2025's Pekat Operation (Community Disease), which targets activities such as the circulation of illegal liquor, gambling, and online prostitution.
"This operation aims to maintain morals and public order. We continue to urge the public to be vigilant and dare to report if they know suspicious activities," he said.
