DIY - Yogyakarta Special Regional Government (Pemda) has prepared a new parking location specifically for private vehicles around Malioboro, namely in Kotabaru area, Yogyakarta City.

This follows the plan to change the function of the Abu Bakar Ali (ABA) Parking Special Place (TKP) into a green open space (RTH). This new parking location is designed to accommodate private vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled.

"Especially for private vehicles, be it motorbikes or cars. There it is not possible to park a tourism bus," said DIY Regional Secretary (Sekda) Beny Suharsono when contacted in Yogyakarta, Wednesday, May 21, confiscated by Antara.

According to Beny, tourism buses that were originally able to take advantage of the ABA TKP will later be diverted to other special parking lots, namely at the Senopati and Ngabean crime scenes.

The distance from the new official parking location in the Kotabaru area to Malioboro is about 750 meters.

According to Beny, the DIY Regional Government will install a down payment or location appointment sign to make it easier for visitors.

In addition, the circulation system and vehicle regulation will be strengthened to support convenience and accessibility towards the shopping tourism center area.

"Later, someone will help with circulation. It's also to grow a new economy," he said.

Meanwhile, the process of fencing in the ABA TKP area has been carried out since two days ago. Seng fences are installed at several points, although they have not yet circled the entire area.

Beny said parking and trading activities at the location were still allowed until June 1, 2025.

"You can still move until June 1, while waiting for the new location to be ready. After that, you just move to a new location," said Beny.

TKP ABA management Doni Rulianto said that parking attendants and traders were still waiting for confirmation of the readiness of the replacement location.

However, he ensured that all parties at the location were aware of the plan to refresh and transfer.

"I have conveyed everything before the installation. My residents also know," said Doni.

Previously, the DIY Environment and Forestry Agency (DLHK) designed the construction of green open space in the Abu Bakar Ali Special Parking Area (TKP), Yogyakarta City to strengthen the existence of the Yogyakarta Philosophy Axis which has been designated as a world heritage by UNESCO.

DLHK DIY designed the area of approximately 7,000 square meters into green open space with the concept of three zones, namely public, social and natural zones.
