Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police, Kombes Dwi Subagio, said that the extortionists were acting in various provinces on the island of Java by claiming to be journalists to threaten their victims.
"It has been in action since 2020 in various big cities on the island of Java," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 16.

He said the four perpetrators were arrested based on reports from victims of extortion. The gang was arrested at a rest area on the Boyolali Toll Road a few days ago.

The four extortionists who have been arrested are HMG (33), AMS (26), KS (25), and IH (30), all of whom are from Bekasi, West Java.
