TANGERANG A member of a community organization (ormas) was arrested by the police after allegedly blackmailing a Solo tea seller on Jalan Raya Pondok Kacang, Ciledug, Tangerang City. The perpetrator with the initials AHZ (38) asked for money under the pretext of coaching costs.
The Head of the Ciledug Police, Kompol RA Dalby, said that the arrest of AHZ began with public reports accompanied by video recordings of extortion. In the video, the victim had recorded the actions of the perpetrator and his colleague.
"His colleague, DJ alias Pitak, fled when he was about to be arrested. However, we already know his identity from the victim's video," said Kompol Dalby in his statement, Thursday, May 15.
Extortion occurred when the perpetrator asked for Rp300 thousand from the Solo tea seller on the grounds of coaching money. Because they were unable to fulfill the request, the victim only gave Rp100 thousand.
On Saturday, May 10, 2025 at around 21.00 WIB, the two perpetrators came back and collected the remaining Rp200 thousand.
They even handed over receipts dated April 29, 2025 as evidence of levies. When the victim refused to give the remaining money, the perpetrators threatened to prohibit the victim from selling at the location.
"From the results of the investigation, it turned out that the perpetrators often made similar levies on other traders along Jalan Raya Pondok Kacang, with a nominal value of Rp. 700 thousand per trader," explained Kompol Dalby.
He added that traders were reluctant to report for fear of perpetrators claiming to be members of certain mass organizations. The police also appealed to the public not to be afraid to report acts of thuggery.
AHZ is now charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code on extortion, which carries a prison sentence of up to nine years. Meanwhile, DJ alias Pitak is still being chased.
