JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Dimaz Raditya, suggested that the DKI Provincial Government hand over parking management in Jakarta to the private sector. This shows the presence of illegal parking that is still mushrooming in Jakarta.

Dimaz advised the Parking Implementation Unit (UP) of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency to be auctioned off to the private sector if it cannot be changed. According to him, it could be that if the UP Parking is managed by the private sector, it can reduce the leakage of regional revenue in line with the eradication of illegal parking.

By managing it properly, there can be more income from parking. Then, the entry is handed over to the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda).

"If you don't perform and you don't have a breakthrough, Commission C recommends that the parking UPT be disbanded and auctioned off to the private sector only because the regional revenue budget is leaked if we count up to trillions of rupiah, it's really bad," said Dimaz to reporters, Thursday, May 15.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Sutikno, said that the nominal parking retribution in Jakarta, which is managed optimally, could later increase the original regional income (PAD) for public services.

"It's quite possible to add PAD, right? Well, we also return this PAD to the community as well. Maybe to service, maybe to the forms of social assistance products for those in need, right," said Sutikno.

Member of Commission C Ldari from the PAN faction, Ukmanul Hakim, highlighted the performance of the UP Parking of the DKI Transportation Agency which only received Rp30 billion a year from the parking process. However, he believes that the large number of parking bags in Jakarta, the income value is not that small.

"If I see how many meetings with them, they don't even know what they want to do. The figure they gave us is all ridiculous. So their target is only 30 billion a year," said Lukmanul.

In addition, a member of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PDIP faction, Hardiyanto Kenneth, also suggested that Pramono dissolve the UP Parking of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency if it was still incompetent to eradicate illegal parking.

"In the future, if we look at this Parking UPT, it's like this, maybe we will suggest to the Governor to just disband it. We'll just auction it to the private sector so that the private sector manages it," he said.

According to Kenneth, the DKI Provincial Government can cooperate with the private sector in managing illegal parking into official parking whose retribution is received by the Regional Revenue Agency with an optimal value.

"Later, it will go to Bapenda. Bapenda will control it. Bapenda will (manage directly) if the Parking Road is on-street. If it's off-street, it's private management, to Bapenda. So the source of income for tax collection is to Bapenda," explained Kenneth.
