LAMPUNG - Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding visited the JIEMA Job Training Institute (LPK) in Metro City, Lampung on Thursday 15 May.

During his visit, Minister Karding saw firsthand how LPK JIEMA specifically trains prospective Indonesian migrant workers who will be placed in Japan.

"See how the LPK process prepares our younger siblings to carry out internships and then work there later. In general, I think it's good, it means they have been trained for 6 months," said Minister Karding.

In addition to seeing how the LPK operates, Minister Karding also had a chance to talk with the participants.

He advised the participants who would later work in Japan to maintain the good name of the nation and not just work but learn so that skills can be better.

"I entrusted it earlier, one needs to maintain the good name of the nation, because one person does bad activities, for example, it will affect the next quota," he said.

"We motivate them, that they go there, this is calculated to learn to strengthen skills so that later they can return home to become successful entrepreneurs," added Minister Karding.

In addition, Minister Karding also advised LPK participants who will intern in Japan not to get caught in the 'cheap laboratory' mode or cheap workers.

Minister Karding revealed that often internships are used by companies abroad to get labor at low wages.

"There is time for the trade, work is time. Don't let the internship take too long, so it's a pity for our workforce. The payment is cheap, what he should have paid is more than what he should have obtained," said Minister Karding.
