DKI Provincial Government Always Involves The Community In Building Houses Of Worship

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta is committed to always involving the community including the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) in building and expanding houses of worship in the Jakarta area.

"Certainly (it is a concern). There is a FKUB. From there, the criteria for a house of worship can be built or not. This means that we involve the community," said Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno in Jakarta, Monday.

He said he was grateful that the people of Jakarta already had a high tolerance as evidenced by the religious celebration event, including the commemoration of Vesak Day 2025 which went smoothly and safely.

"I am grateful that the people of Jakarta have now given extraordinary tolerance. So, actually we will really support all activities and then religions," said Rano.

He then emphasized that Jakarta was able to continue to be a safe and comfortable host for all religious people in carrying out their worship. In particular, regarding the celebration of Vesak Day 2025, he hopes that this activity can bring peace and enlightenment to people's lives.

He also hopes that the Vesak celebration will serve as a moment of reminder to continue to live with full awareness, always being wise in acting and caring for others.

"This includes maintaining tolerance between religious communities which is an important foundation in realizing Jakarta as an inclusive global city," said Rano.

He then asked that leaders and Buddhists can be role models to continue to maintain the spirit of unity and unity between religious communities so that they can coexist in harmony and peace in the midst of the diversity of the city of Jakarta.

"Always, the celebration of Trisuci Vesak can continue to be blessed by all Buddhists by practicing Dharma's values in their work and life," he said.
