TANGERANG A total of 36 non-procedural pilgrims were thwarted by their departure by the police at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang. They are known to want to leave for the Holy Land, Saudi Arabia, using a work visa or an amil visa, not a Hajj visa.
Kasat Reskrim Soetta Airport Police, Kompol Yandri Mono, explained that this failure began with the examination of documents by Soekarno-Hatta Airport Immigration officers. After further checking, it was found that prospective pilgrims used the transit mode to third countries before continuing their journey to Saudi Arabia.
"The mode is still the same as before, namely using transit flights," said Yandri, Wednesday, May 7.
The prospective pilgrims are known to use the SriLankan Airlines airline with flight number UL 356 on the Jakarta 'Colombo route which was then continued to Riyadh.
Of the total 36 people, 34 are prospective pilgrims, while the other two are leaders and group companions.
"The two people act as departure organizers. They are leaders and companions to prospective pilgrims," said Yandri.
According to the results of the initial examination, these 34 prospective pilgrims did not realize that the visa they were using was a work visa. They have paid to the leader and assistant of the group, each between Rp. 139 million to Rp. 175 million per person. These prospective pilgrims are between 35 and 72 years old.

"IA and NF, as group leaders and assistants, did not tell that the visa used was a work visa," Yandri explained.
Furthermore, Yandri said that IA and NF assured prospective pilgrims by claiming that they had succeeded in sending pilgrims to the Holy Land the previous year. This information spreads from word of mouth, so that many people are interested and register.
Payments were made through PT NSMC, the company owned by IA.
"What makes the prospective pilgrims sure is because IA and NF claim to have dispatched pilgrims in 2024," said Yandri.
Currently, the police are still exploring their respective roles as well as possible violations of the law committed by IA and NF.
"We are still investigating to determine the alleged articles against IA and NF as well as their role in this case," concluded Yandri.
