Australian Caucasians Who Persecuted German Tourists In Bali Sued 6 Months In Prison

DENPASAR - The public prosecutor (JPU) of the Denpasar District Attorney, Bali, charged Ali Shahrouk (38), an Australian citizen, for 6 months in prison on charges of molesting Christin Steinrode Tiller, a German tourist.

Public Prosecutor Made Hendra Pranata Dharmaputra in his indictment at the Denpasar District Court, Tuesday, May 6, stated that the defendant Ali Shahrouk violated Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code regarding persecution.

"Demanding that the defendant Ali Shahrouk be proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing the persecution as referred to in Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code," said the prosecutor before the panel of judges chaired by Putu Akhiryani.

Previously, in the prosecutor's indictment, it was explained that the defendant Ali Shahrouk was charged with molesting German tourist Christin Steinrode Tiller due to a dispute that started with an alleged impetus to small children in the swimming pool's slide area.

Public Prosecutor Made Hendra Pranata Dharmaputra explained that the incident began when the victim, Christin Steinrode Tiller, and his family and friends were enjoying relaxing time at the swimming pool of The Apurva Kempinski Hotel Bali, Nusa Dua, South Kuta, Badung, Wednesday (29 January 2025) at around 13.30 WITA.

While resting in the hut near the pool with witness Tim Tiller and witness Charles Thomas Harrison, suddenly witness Karolina Kretek came and said that the victim's 3-year-old child was driven by another 10-12-year-old child from a relatively high decline.

Karolina also reported that when she tried to reprimand her, she was approached by a witness named Samer Beckdache who made harsh words. Hearing that, Christin approached Samer and pushed her into the pool of children.

When he fell into the pool, witness Samer pulled Christin's hair so that both of them fell.

In that situation, the defendant Ali Shahrouk approached. When Christin approached Ali and scratched him, Ali immediately slapped the victim's cheek. It didn't stop there, he also hit the victim's face with his hand cupping.

The violent act was witnessed by witnessten Tommy Noe, the life guard of the hotel, who immediately intervened and called security officers.

"The victim was then taken to BIMC Nusa Dua Hospital for medical treatment, while her husband reported the incident to the South Kuta Police," said the Public Prosecutor.

The post-mortem results from the BIMC Hospital were signed by dr. Desak Ayu Nyoman Irma Wedaswari said Christin had bruises and swelling on her left nose and jaw. A broken nose and jaw were also found based on a CT 3D scan.

"The wound is said to be caused by blunt violence and is declared to cause infection and temporarily hinders daily activities," said the Public Prosecutor.

For his actions, Ali Shahrouk was charged with violating Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code concerning persecution.
