6,600 Prosperous Families In Ponorogo, Become A Priority For People's Schools

PONOROGO The Ponorogo Regency Government, East Java, recommends that 6,600 prosperous families be included in the decile 1 category to be prioritized as potential beneficiaries of the People's School (SR) program which is scheduled to start running in July 2025.

Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko said the data refers to the results of data collection from the Ponorogo Regency Social Service. Desil 1 is a household group with the lowest welfare level or 10 percent of the lowest nationally.

"There are about 6,600 families who are included in the 1 decile. They are priority targets for the People's School program," said the Regent who is familiarly called Kang Giri, quoted from ANTARA, Tuesday, May 6.

However, according to him, this figure will still be evaluated further because not all family members in the group can become participants. Some of them are still in school or have graduated.

"So not all of them. Later we will see the needs and eligibility," he explained.

People's Schools will open access to education for elementary, junior high, to high school levels, complete with character education and** religious development outside formal learning activities.

"We prepare formal education, character, and religion in a complete manner," said the regent for the two periods.

For the initial stage, the People's School learning activities will use the Small and Medium Industry (IKM) building on Jalan Trunojoyo, Tambakbayan Village, while waiting for the construction of a 6.3 hectare permanent school building in Setono Village, Jenangan District.
