Director Of JakTV News Becomes City Prisoner, 8 Heart Rings To Monitoring Devices

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has transferred the detention status of the Director of the JAK TV News, Tian Bahtiar, to city detention. The reason is because he has a history of heart disease and has 8 rings installed.

"There has been a transfer of detention from what detention centers have been carrying out to city detainees in Bekasi," said Head of the AGO, Harli Siregar, to reporters, Monday, April 28.

Not only the heart, Tian Bahtiar also has other diseases. So, based on the results of coordination with a team of doctors, it was decided to divert detention to city detention.

"We can say that it turns out that the person concerned has a history of heart disease and 8 rings have been installed, then there is cholesterol and (problems) in breathing," he said.

In the mechanism for transferring the status of detention, Tian Bahtiar's wife is said to be the guarantor. In addition, investigators also installed monitoring tools to determine her whereabouts.

"There is also a guarantee from the person regarding the transfer process, the wife concerned. Well, we also need to convey that related to the transfer of detention, from the detention center to the city," said Harli.

"The electronic device in question will also be attached to the person concerned who will monitor the movement. So the electronic equipment has been installed to monitor the movement in question," he continued.

Tian Bahtiar, together with Marcella Santoso and Junaedi Saibih as lawyers, the AGO has been named as suspects in the obstruction of investigations and prosecution of corruption cases. They are suspected of having committed malicious conspiracy to create news and content on social media that discredits the AGO in handling corruption cases of PT Timah Tbk and importing sugar at the Ministry of Trade.

In this case, Tian is suspected of obstructing the investigation of the cases investigated by the AGO by building public opinion through negative news that cornered the AGO.

The AGO said the news was made by Tian at the request of lawyers Marcella Santoso and Junaedi Saabih for a fee of Rp478,500,000 that went into Tian's private pocket.

The modus operandi is that Marcella and Junaedi hold seminars, talk shows, and demonstrations with negative narratives related to case handling by the AGO. The events were then covered and published by Tian.

The suspects are suspected of Article 21 of Law in 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law number 21 of 2021 in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
