JAKARTA - In the midst of various environmental problems and the lack of concern for waste management, the figure of Ema Suranta appears as the current Kartini.

With a burning spirit and firm determination, he turns a pile of garbage into a source of hope for the environment, society, and the future.

Starting from anxiety seeing the mountain of garbage piled up in his village, as well as the tragic memories of the TPA Leuwigajah tragedy that claimed 150 lives, Ema was moved to establish the Bukit Berlian Waste Bank in Kertamulya Village, Padalarang, West Bandung Regency with the surrounding women.

Not only as a place of division, but as a center for education, empowerment, and environmental social movements.

With the support of PNM, Ema began cultivating the larvae of the Black Soldier Fly or known as the magazine, to process organic waste.

From the initial capital obtained when he joined as a customer of PNM Mekaar, he has now succeeded in processing up to 2 tons of waste per week and producing fresh beards and kasgots (organized fertilizers). These products are not only environmental solutions, but also new sources of income for the community.

Ema is now a symbol that women, with Kartini's spirit, are able to answer challenges according to their times with real action and continuous solutions.

PNM President Director Arief Mulyadi, expressed his appreciation for the fighting spirit of female customers who have become a motor of change in his community.

Kartini today is not only talking about emancipation, but also about the courage to take responsibility for the environment and others. Mrs. Ema and thousands of other PNM customers have proven that ultra micro empowerment is not just an economic issue, but also about building a shared future," said Arief.

Through the Mekaar PNM program, PNM has accompanied millions of Indonesian women to be financially independent, socially confident, and strong in facing the challenges of life.

PNM hopes that more and more figures such as Ema can be provided with assistance and financing to inspire Kartini's current realization.
