Arrest Perpetrators Of Sexual Harassment At CSB Mall Cirebon, Police Suspect More Than One Victim

The Cirebon City Resort Police arrested a man with the initials ES (33) who abused a 17-year-old girl in a shopping area at Cirebon Super Block (CSB) Mall on Thursday, April 17 evening.

The Head of Cirebon City Police, AKBP Eko Iskandar, explained that the incident occurred at around 22.00 WIB, when the victim with the initials FL was walking in the shopping area, approached by the perpetrator who carried out the action.

"The victim was walking at that time, then approached by the perpetrator, then the perpetrator touched the sensitive part of the victim," he said in Cirebon, Friday, April 18, which was confiscated by Antara.

After the incident, he said, the security officers of the shopping center together with the community who were at the location immediately secured the perpetrators.

He said that when the perpetrator was arrested, the perpetrator suffered minor injuries, because he was the target of the residents' tantrums after the incident.

"When our officers arrived, the perpetrator was already beaten," he said.

Eko said the perpetrators had now been taken to the Cirebon City Police Headquarters for examination, and it was confirmed that the perpetrator's physical condition was currently in good health.

"Currently we are investigating the perpetrators. Last night we also checked his health condition and so far the perpetrators are in good health," he said.

According to him, the perpetrator has admitted his actions and currently the investigators are still investigating the motive behind the action. Investigations also continue to be carried out on witnesses who were at the scene.

"The actions have indeed been carried out and have been acknowledged by the perpetrators. We have also asked for information from victim witnesses, security, and other witnesses at the crime scene. We are still investigating the motive," he said.

He conveyed that because the victim was still 17 years old, investigators applied the article in Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection to ensnare the perpetrator in this case.

"Because the victim is still a minor, we use the Child Protection Act. The threat of punishment for the perpetrators ranges from five to 15 years in prison," he said.

He added that currently his party is still focusing on one victim, but it is possible that there will be additional reports.

The Cirebon City Police have also opened a reporting route, especially for people who have information or become other victims of the perpetrator's actions.

"Maybe there are other victims who have experienced similar incidents with this perpetrator. Please report to the Cirebon City Police. They can pass 110 or come directly to the office," he said.
