CIANJUR - The Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (BBTNGGP) again extended the closure of climbing activities in the Mount Gede Pangrango area.
This latest closure is valid from April 14 to April 21, 2025, or until further information from the Geological Agency, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The decision is contained in Circular Letter Number SE.20 of 2025 which was issued on April 13, 2025. The closure was carried out as a form of anticipation for the increase in Mount Gede's volcanic activity which has the potential to cause danger, such as phreatic eruptions and toxic gases.
Head of TNGGP Center Adhi Nurul Hadi said this step was taken for the safety of climbers, tourists, and the surrounding community.
"This closure is intended to provide protection for the safety of visitors and the surrounding community from potential geological disasters that may occur," he said in a circular quoted on Monday, April 14.
This closure is a continuation of the previous policy that has been in effect since early April 2025. BBTNGGP has three times extended its closing period, namely on April 3' 7th, April 8' 13, and is now being extended again until April 21, 2025.
For prospective climbers who have registered since April 14, 2025, BBTNGGP provides a rescheduling option or refund through the official website www.booking.gepangrango.org.
