The East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) declared a 24-hour alert during the implementation of the 2025 Eid homecoming and return flow to support smooth and public safety.
Head of East Java BPBD Gatot Soebroto in Surabaya, Saturday confirmed that his party received directions from the Governor of East Java to remain alert during the Lebaran implementation.
"According to the direction of the Governor (Khofifah Indar Parawansa) BPBD, it is one of the five OPDs who do not get holidays to ensure disaster management readiness and emergency conditions during this Eid season," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, March 23.
Kalaksa Gatot Soebroto explained that this year, special posts in several areas were not established due to efficiency policies. However, the central post at the East Java BPBD office continues to monitor and coordinate 24 hours.
"All BPBDs in districts/cities have also been directed to be alert in their respective areas, especially in the face of potential disasters such as landslides and floods," he said.
According to him, based on information from the BMKG, extreme weather is expected to last for the next 4-5 days.
He said several areas that were of major concern in disaster monitoring, including, covering the Mataraman area, such as Trenggalek, Magetan, and Pacitan, then Sidoarjo, Malang Raya and South Coast areas, as well as the Tapal Kuda area, such as Bondowoso and Situbondo.
"Meanwhile, the Madura region and the north side of East Java are predicted to be relatively safe," he said.

The Head of Emergency and Logistics (KL) of the East Java BPBD, Satriyo Nurseno, added that the readiness of the East Java BPBD was also supported by personnel from the Rapid Response Team (TRC) who would carry out 24-hour monitoring.
"We remain on standby 24 hours with a shift system, from what is usually three shifts to two shifts. Each shift consists of 15-20 personnel to ensure handling readiness throughout the region," he said.

Satriyo also invited the public and media crew to play an active role in providing information regarding the disaster that occurred.
