The Speaker Of The House Of Representatives Asks For The Shooting Case Of 3 Police In Lampung To Be Completely Investigated

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, condemned the shooting of three police officers who died during a raid on the cockfighting gambling activity in Way Kanan Regency, Lampung. He asked for this case to be thoroughly investigated.

"On behalf of the DPR RI, we express our condolences for the death of 3 police officers while carrying out their duties. The DPR through the relevant commission will oversee the investigation of this case to completion," said Puan Maharani, Tuesday, March 18.

Puan emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victims. According to him, the perpetrators should be given severe punishment.

"The perpetrators involved in criminal acts must receive appropriate sanctions," said Puan.

He also asked the TNI and Polri to work together in investigating this case in order to ensure transparency and accountability. In addition, he hopes that there will be an internal evaluation of the TNI institutions to prevent the involvement of its members in illegal activities in the future.

"This incident is a reminder of the importance of integrity and professionalism of state officials in carrying out their duties," said Puan.

"Strict and fair law enforcement against perpetrators, especially if they involve officials, is a crucial step to maintain the dignity of the institution and public trust," he continued.

On the other hand, Puan highlighted several important aspects related to security and police operational procedures. He said the raid operation should be supported by accurate intelligence and careful planning to minimize risks for officers in the field.

In addition, added Puan, the alleged involvement of officers in illegal activities such as gambling emphasizes the importance of coordination and strict internal supervision between law enforcement institutions.

"This incident underscores the need for improving welfare and protection for law enforcement personnel while carrying out their duties, including providing adequate tactical protective equipment and training," said Puan.

Three police personnel died in their duties during a cockfighting gambling raid in Karang Manik Village, Batin State District, Way Kanan, Lampung. They are the Head of the Batin State Police, Iptu Lusiyanto, Bripka Petrus Apriyanto and Bripda M Ghalib Surya Ganta.

The raids were carried out after the Batin State Police received a report regarding the practice of cockfighting gambling in Karang Manik Village. Following up on the report, 17 police personnel were deployed to carry out raids, led directly by the Batin State Police Chief Iptu Lusiyanto.

When they arrived at the location, the initial situation seemed conducive. But suddenly, they were attacked with gunfire which resulted in the death of the three police officers. The perpetrator, who is suspected of being a member of the TNI, is now known to have been detained in Denpom Lampung.
