Kapuspen Regarding The Revision Of The TNI Law: This Is A Strategic Need For More Structured Tasks

JAKARTA - Head of the Indonesian National Army Information Center (Kapuspen), Major General Hariyanto, spoke about the revision of the TNI Law, which currently has drawn criticism.

According to him, the TNI Bill is a strategic step to strengthen national defense, improve the professionalism of soldiers, and ensure civil supremacy in the life of the nation and state.

"Strategic needs so that the duties and roles of the TNI are more structured and adaptive to the challenges of the times," said Hariyanto in a statement received in Jakarta, Sunday, March 16.

Haryanto assessed that the important point in this revision was clearer arrangements regarding the placement of active soldiers in ministries and institutions (K/L) outside the TNI structure.

He emphasized that the mechanisms and criteria for placement must be in accordance with national needs and not interfere with the principles of TNI neutrality.

"The placement of active soldiers outside the TNI will be strictly regulated so that it remains in line with national interests and does not cause overlapping authority," said Hariyanto.

In addition, regarding the retirement age limit, he assessed that the life expectancy of Indonesians is getting longer and more productive. so that it can still contribute to the country.

"We see that adjusting the retirement age limit can be a solution so that soldiers who still have optimal abilities can still serve, without hampering leadership regeneration in the TNI," explained Kapuspen TNI.

Therefore, he appealed to the public not to be easily provoked by news full of hatred and slander.

"The TNI invites all elements of the nation to maintain unity and not easily pitted against each other. We must maintain national stability together," he said.

The revision of the TNI Law invites polemic because it is feared that it will revive ABRI's dyafunction. There are a number of proposed changes in the DIM Revision of the TNI Law from the government, including the expansion of the placement of active TNI soldiers in 15 ministries and institutions.

Even though it has been expanded, the government proposes TNI soldiers to occupy civilian positions outside 15 ministries and institutions. However, on condition that you have to retire early.

Then, this revision aims to determine the increase in the age of service for soldiers up to 58 years for non-commissioned and non-commissioned officers. Meanwhile, the official service period for officers can reach the age of 60 years.

In addition, there is a possibility that the official term will be extended to 65 years for soldiers who occupy functional positions. As for the 4-star high-ranking officers, the retirement period is in accordance with the president's discretion.
