JAKARTA - Indonesia through the Maemuna Center Indonesia and the Aqsa Working Group (AWG) supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the Indonesian Baznas to the Palestinian Ministry of Health will build the Indonesian Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
The construction of this hospital is an effort to support the recovery of the health system in Gaza, part of the 'Indonesian National Campaign for Palestine: Solidarity, Real Action and New Hope' which was launched on February 26 by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Anis Matta.
Director of the Middle East of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahrul Tsani Fathurrahman, said that his party supports the development of RSIA Indonesia, which is a big job in the Indonesian National Campaign for Palestine.
"Conditions in Gaza are currently still faced with a multidimensional humanitarian crisis, a very tough challenge, after the completion of the first phase of the ceasefire, until now the negotiations for the second phase have yet to continue, exacerbated by Israel's policy of closing border doors again", Ahrul said in a press statement at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday, March 14.
"We appreciate Aqsa Working Group and the Maemuna Center for starting the initiative and encouraging this great work," he explained.
It is planned that RSIA Indonesia Gaza will be built on a 5,000 square meter waqf land given by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The location is near the Al-Rintisi Children's Hospital in Gaza.
"Based on UN OCHA data, 19 of the 36 hospitals in Gaza have been closed due to being affected by Israeli attacks since October 2023," explained Maemuna Center Indonesia coach Siti Fadilah Supari.
Later, this hospital will have a total area of 10,310 square meters consisting of four floors, including the basement. The total required funds are around Rp402 billion, with the initial stage being raised of Rp201 billion.
