An ASN In Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Becomes A Suspect Of Child Abuse Arrested

The Bukittinggi City Police (Polres) in West Sumatra (West Sumatra) has arrested a state civil servant (ASN) who is a suspect in a case of sexual abuse of minors.

"The perpetrator with the initials RP was named a suspect in February. After two summons did not come, we were forced to pick him up to Padang," said Deputy Head of the Bukittinggi Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Anidar in Bukittinggi, Friday, March 14, as reported by Antara.

He said RP was an ASN who served in the Bukittinggi City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) which was reported in November 2024 by the victim's family because they did not accept that their child was molested while practicing pencak silat with the suspect.

"The RP is suspected of molesting a minor who is a silat student," said Anidar.

He explained that the suspect RP had complained of illness and was treated at the Brain Hospital DT Drs. M. Hatta, Bukittinggi City, for several days after being questioned for initial information and title of the case.

"Maybe because of stress, then he was treated to a mental hospital in Padang City," he said.

Anidar said the suspect's attorney or lawyer had submitted a suspension of detention against his client.

"There was a request for a suspension of the suspect's detention submitted by his lawyer, but so far it has not been granted," he said.

This case was previously reported by the victim's parents to the police in November 2024 with the letter number STTLP/B/146/XI/2024 with the reported initials RP.

In its report, the victim's family revealed that the alleged molestation of the child was carried out on Sunday, August 18, 2024, and Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

The RP was reported for alleged violations of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.

"The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison," said Anidar.
