JAKARTA - United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio believes satellites can be used to monitor compliance with potential ceasefire agreements in Ukraine.

Ukraine is known to have approved a 30-day full ceasefire proposal in its war with Russia, after a meeting in Saudi Arabia with the United States delegation on Tuesday.

"The interesting thing about modern warfare is that monitoring is easier than ever," he told reporters at an airport in Ireland after negotiating with the Ukrainian delegation in Jeddah, reported by TASS March 13.

"Just because there are so many eyes on the pitch, and there are also various commercial satellites in the air, and it will be very difficult to hide unmanned aircraft attacks, it will be difficult to hide missile attacks, ballistic attacks, artillery," Foreign Minister Rubio said when asked how a potential ceasefire could be enforced.

"So, we feel it is something that can be monitored," he added.

A joint statement, published after US-Ukraine negotiations on March 11 in Jeddah, said the two countries had agreed to immediately sign a comprehensive agreement on the development of very important mineral resources.

The Kyiv government has confirmed its readiness to accept Washington's proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in conflict with Russia.

In turn, the Washington Government pledged to immediately continue providing intelligence and support to Ukraine.

Separately, US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that his party intends to hold talks with the Russian side later "today or tomorrow."

In Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova did not rule out contact between Russian and US representatives to occur in the next few days.
