Ogoh-ogoh Giant Damaged, Perpetrator Confesses Upset To Residents

DENPASAR - A man with the initials KE (26) was arrested by the North Denpasar Police, for damaging the artwork of residents of Banjar Adat Kusuma Jati, Pemecutan Kaja Village, North Denpasar District, Denpasar City, Bali.

Head of Public Relations of Denpasar Police, AKP Ketut Sukadi, said the reason the perpetrators vandalized Ogoh-ogoh was annoyed with several local residents.

But the perpetrator has not explained what irritated him and some residents to the point of damaging Ogoh-ogoh.

"The perpetrator was annoyed with several residents. They are still investigating why he was upset," said AKP Sukadi, Wednesday, March 12.

At that time residents saw the Ogoh-ogoh that was made found with broken hands and legs. Residents checked CCTV and saw that an unknown person broke it and was immediately reported to the North Denpasar Police.

"The perpetrator damaged Ogoh-ogoh by breaking the leg and hand of one of the Ogoh-ogoh, with a total loss of Rp. 1,200,000," he added.

From the investigation, the police arrested the perpetrators of the Ogoh-ogoh destroyer.

"The perpetrator admitted that he damaged Ogoh-ogoh, broke it by using his hands. He damaged Ogoh-ogoh to vent his frustration with several residents," he said.

For his actions, the perpetrator is now named a suspect under Article 407 of the Criminal Code.
