A tornado hit Pasekan District, Indramayu Regency, West Java, on Thursday, March 6 evening. As a result, 91 houses in the area were damaged.

The Head of Pasekan Sub-district for the Indramayu Regency Government, Dedeh Nurjanah, said that out of the total houses affected by the disaster, as many as 30 units were in Totoran Village and 61 units in Pabean Ilir Village.

His party has now coordinated with various stakeholders, especially local governments, to carry out emergency handling including the evacuation of residents and cleaning up areas affected by hurricanes.

According to him, this effort was made to prevent potential victims, especially in locations prone to falling trees.

In Pabean Ilir Village, he continued, currently emergency tents have been established, precisely in RT 11, which is one of the most severely affected points.

"We continue to monitor the situation and coordinate with the district government (Pemkab) for further handling, especially for residents whose houses suffered heavy damage and collapsed," said Dedeh.

Currently, he said, the local government continues to collect data and handle affected residents, including possible assistance for repairing houses that were severely damaged.

Meanwhile Durohim (61), a resident of Customs Ilir Village, revealed that the incident occurred starting with a thunder sound that was heard three times. Not long after that the wind blew hard and in a matter of minutes his house collapsed.

"Luckily, at the time of the incident, my house was empty so there were no casualties, but the whole building was destroyed," he said.
