4 Congestion Points To Watch Out For During The 2025 Eid Homecoming

JAKARTA - The Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the National Police, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryo Nugroho, identified four points that have the potential for vulnerabilities to occur in the 2025 homecoming. The four points are on toll roads, arterial routes, crossing ports and tourist sites.

The identification of this vulnerability point was carried out after Korlantas conducted a route survey to identify the implementation of this year's homecoming.

"If asked about readiness in the implementation of homecoming, we are ready to carry out homecoming in 2025 and have collaborated with various parties to ensure that this year's homecoming runs safely, comfortably and safely," said Inspector General Pol Agus, in his statement, Friday, March 7.

Previously, Inspector General of Police Agus had revealed the identification of points prone to traffic jams, one of Lebaran 2025 homecoming in a discussion of the PKB faction of the DPR RI entitled Homecoming Comfortable Amid Budget Efficiency, at the Parliament Complex, Thursday, March 6.

It is predicted that the peak of community movement in this year's homecoming will start from 28-30 March 2025. However, it is possible that there will be a shift in homecoming flow to 22-27 March 2025 due to government policies that regulate work flexibility for the state civil apparatus (ASN), namely work from anywhere (WFA), work from office (WFO) and work from home (WFH).

This government policy for ASN is accompanied by an independent learning policy from March 21-27, 2025, which allows for a shift in the flow of homecoming.

Agus revealed that this year's Eid homecoming is expected to increase the volume of vehicles, including in rest areas on toll roads and arteries to Java, Bali and Sumatra. To unravel congestion in the rest area, his party will make several efforts.

We will open the rest area. If the rest area is full, then we will close access to the rest area. We hope that the community minimizes stopping at the shoulder of the toll road for mutual safety," he explained.

To overcome traffic jams due to vehicle volume density, continued Agus, his party will also increase lane capacity. For example, on the Cipali toll road from KM 72 to KM 110, which was originally two lanes to three lanes at the peak of this year's homecoming return period.

The addition of this route has the potential to access the Cikatama Toll Gate more quickly so that vehicles are diverted via Cisumdawu in the event of a congestion approaching GT Cikatama.

Agus continued, the crossing port also has the potential for congestion during homecoming, especially at Bakauheni-Merak crossings. Minimizing efforts are made by only implementing one ticket price, namely only regular tickets.

In addition, motorized vehicles are also diverted to other lane access to the crossing to minimize the occurrence of congestion. Then, tourist attractions that also often occur in congestion are sought to have scenarios for traffic flow diversion.

"Such as Puncak during Eid alone, there is always a density. Especially during Eid. We have carried out scenarios, for example, there is a one way route. But this depends on the volume of vehicle density," he concluded.
