Babel Police Name One New Suspect In Tin Smuggling

PANGKALPINANG - Investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Bangka Belitung Regional Police have named a new suspect in the tin ore smuggling case that occurred in East Belitung Regency.

Prior to the determination of this new suspect, investigators had also named two people as suspects, namely the owner and supplier of the illegal tin sand.

Head of Public Relations of the Bangka Belitung Police, Kombes Fauzan Sukmawansyah, said that one person who had been named a new suspect had the initials Jo.

"Information from the Ditreskrimsus investigators that there is an addition of one new suspect in this case, currently the suspect Jo has been detained at the Bangka Belitung Police Headquarters Detention Center." he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 5.

The detention of the suspect, admitted Fauzan, was carried out based on the Police Report dated January 30, 2025, regarding the disclosure of the tin sand smuggling case in East Belitung Regency.

The suspect will be detained for 20 days, starting from February 27 to March 18, 2025.

Regarding the involvement of suspect Jo, the Babel Police Ditreskrimsus Investigation Team is currently still carrying out further investigations into suspect Jo.

"We will convey the progress later. Of course, this is one of our efforts to realize our commitment and seriousness in resolving the tin ore smuggling case in East Belitung," he said.
