JAKARTA - Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang emphasized that Taiwan is part of China when submitting the Government Work Report in 2024.
"We will implement the Party's overall policy in a new era in solving Taiwan's problems. We will remain committed to the principle of 'One China'," said PM Li QIang at the opening of the China National People's Congress (NPC) session at the People's Hall, Beijing, Wednesday, March 5.
The NPC (National People's Congress) session is part of a series of "Two Sessions" parliamentary sessions during March 4-11, 2025 which aims to review the work reports of the central government in 2024 and establish the Chinese government's work plan by 2025.
"This is in accordance with the 1992 Agreement. We firmly oppose separatist activities aimed at Taiwan independence and external interference and at the same time encourage the peaceful development of cross-south relations," added Li Qiang.
China is said to be increasing institutional capacity and policies to encourage cultural exchange and economic cooperation in the Taiwan Strait as well as advancing integrated cross-channel development to improve the welfare of the Chinese people on both sides.
"We will firmly encourage the goal of reunification of China and cooperate with fellow Chinese citizens in Taiwan to realize the nation's noble goals," said PM Li.
