Rano Karno Targets Water Supply Of 4,600 Liters Per Second From The Karian Reservoir Must Be Available Before 2030

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno is targeting the construction of the Regional Karian-Serpong Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) which takes raw water from the Karian Reservoir must be completed in the next few years.

Rano requested that the raw water supply from the Karian Reservoir with a capacity of 4,600 liters per second can enter Jakarta before 2030.

"The person must be able to enter before 2030 to Jakarta. Otherwise, the target of 100 percent clean water service coverage for Jakarta residents will not be achieved," Rano told reporters, Wednesday, March 5.

Rano emphasized that the 100 percent expansion of piped water service coverage in 2030 is included in one of his work programs and DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.

"I once had experience, the Karian Reservoir was in my time as governor (Banten), so I really know when the difficulties are like. Now, now the Karian reservoir has been completed, indeed it is the Karian reservoir to supply raw water materials for Jakarta," he explained.

Continuing, the President Director of PAM Jaya, Arief Nasrudin, admitted that the supply of raw water from the Karian Reservoir to Jakarta depended on the acceleration from the Ministry of Public Works.

According to him, PAM Jaya has sent a letter to the Ministry of Public Works to ensure that the raw water supply from the Karian reservoir to Jakarta can be executed before 2030.

"The condition depends on the Ministry of Public Works. In 2020 it should have been on board. But if I'm not mistaken 4 times the addendum on the side of the KPBU pattern (Government and Business Entity Cooperation). We are a little pessimistic (the supply of Karian reservoir water to Jakarta is on target)," said Arief.

Arief admitted that one of the water supply constraints from the Karian reservoir to Jakarta was constrained by water roads which have not yet been built. In addition, he explained, the central government has not yet built the IPA Serpong which will process the raw water from the Karian Reservoir.

"We have written, we wrote asking for confirmation and don't delay it. Because we can't move water supplies from East Jakarta to West Jakarta, the pipe is too long," he added.
