KAI Bans People From 'Gabuburit' On The Train Line, Can Get A Fine Of IDR 15 Million To 3 Months In Prison.

SURABAYA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Area (Daop) 8 Surabaya prohibits people from carrying out any activities on the railway line, including "ngabuburit" while waiting for the breaking of Ramadan 1446 H.

KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Public Relations Manager Luqman Arif said there were still many residents who carried out activities or activities on the railway line, even though they knew there was a risk of danger from these activities.

"Railways are not a place to carry out activities other than railway operations," Luqman said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 3.

The prohibition of activities on the railway line, said Luqman, has been regulated in Law Number 23 of 2007 concerning Railways.

Luqman explained in Article 181 paragraph (1) that everyone is prohibited from being in the good space of the railway line, including carrying out activities such as dragging, moving, placing, or moving goods on the tracks and using the railway line for other purposes outside train transportation.

Those who violate, he continued, will be subject to sanctions in accordance with Article 199, with a maximum imprisonment of three months or a fine of up to Rp. 15 million.

As a preventive effort, his party also actively conducts patrols and socialization in the operational area of Daop 8 Surabaya, which is often encountered by community activities.

"KAI allows people to move, but not on the railway line," he said.

Therefore, his party is committed to continuing to prioritize the safety of customers and the people living around the rail line, as well as inviting all parties to work together in maintaining security by not carrying out activities around the rail line.

Luqman said, for people who see suspicious or dangerous activity around the railroad tracks, they are advised to immediately report to KAI officers or authorities to prevent accidents.

"Let's maintain safety and order for the sake of mutual comfort," he said.
