Prabowo Instructs To Maintain Price And Food Stability Ahead Of Ramadan

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto instructed the relevant ministries to maintain the stability of food staple prices and ensure food availability for the Indonesian people ahead of Ramadan 1446 H/2025 AD.

This was conveyed by President Prabowo at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, after returning from the Regional Head Retret agenda in Magelang, Central Java, Friday, February 28.

"I have conveyed instructions to the Coordinating Minister for Food, Minister of Trade, Minister of Agriculture, all relevant ministers to ensure the availability of basic materials and prevent a speculative increase and price spike," Prabowo said as quoted by Antara.

Prabowo stated that he has continued to monitor the development of food production and prices in recent weeks. "In the last few weeks, I have continued to monitor the development of the production situation and food prices," said Prabowo.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all people, especially those who need the most, still have access to food at affordable prices.

For this reason, President Prabowo invites all relevant agencies and institutions to always work hard so that all people, especially the people who need it most, can reach the prices of these foodstuffs.

The President also emphasized that the government will not only carry out monitoring but also take effective executive action against speculative practices in the market.

This step is expected to prevent the presence of individuals who take advantage of the momentum of Ramadan to reap unreasonable profits by increasing prices excessively.

In his statement, the President also said that the Ministry of Religion would hold an isbat session this afternoon to determine the beginning of Ramadan 1446 H.

President Prabowo also congratulated all Muslims in Indonesia, while apologizing physically and mentally.

"Hopefully our worship will be accepted by Allah SWT," he said.

In the press conference at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base Pandawa Room, President Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, and Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir.
