BOGOR - Ahead of Ramadan 2025, prices for a number of basic commodities were observed to have increased in the market. However, the government is trying to keep prices under control entering the fasting month.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Sudaryono, reviewed the operation of the cheap food market at the Bogor Post Office and Cibinong Post Office on Thursday, February 27. This monitoring was carried out to ensure market operations run smoothly and can be accessed by the wider community.
The Deputy Minister saw firsthand the distribution of five basic commodities, namely cooking oil for Oilita, garlic, consumption sugar, frozen buffalo meat, and SPHP rice at two Post Offices in Bogor. The first review was carried out at the Bogor Post Office, Juanda Street, Bogor City.
After that, the Deputy Minister and his entourage continued monitoring at the Cibinong Post Office, Jalan Tegar Beliman, Bogor Regency. In both locations, he interacted with postal officers and the community.
"We continue to monitor the operation of cheap food markets in various regions in Indonesia so that people get basic needs at prices below the highest retail price," said Deputy Minister Sudaryono.
He added that the operation of the cheap food market will take place from Monday, February 24, 2025 to March 29, 2025, or three days before Eid. This market operation is expected to reduce the potential price increase that usually occurs ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
To ensure sufficient stock, the government cooperates with food SOEs, namely Perum Bulog, PT RNI, PTPN, PT Berdikari, and PT PPI. Food selling prices are set in accordance with the highest retail price based on technical guidelines for implementing market operations that have been set by the government.
