GSRI: MBG Program Is Still Overlapping With Similar Programs That Already Exist

JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Indonesian Research Strategy Global (GSRI), Sabastian Salang said that in the era of digital information disclosure, Indonesians need research that is not only data-intensive, but also easy to digest.

Based on this, this research institute utilizes multimedia formats including podcasts, videos, and infographics so that government policy analysis is closer and more relevant to the wider audience.

"GSRI focuses on government policy research and budget. We want the public to get a complete and data-based picture of the direction of the policy taken. We hope to be an accurate reference source for the public," said Sebastian Salang, Executive Director of GSRI to reporters, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 26.

Salang said that GSRI was highlighting the 2025 State Budget which was enforced under President Prabowo's administration. Based on the results of published research, GSRI found a number of crucial challenges such as a budget deficit that would affect the stability of the country's economy.

"In addition, we also assess that efforts to cut the budget have been carried out, but there are still overlapping programs that are at risk of waste. And some government social assistance programs are considered not to be coordinated optimally, so there is the potential for budget duplication," said Sabastian Salang.

In order to complete the challenge= the challenge needs to be done several things so that the work program that is said during the campaign can be realized. "The importance of validating data on social assistance recipients is to avoid mistargeting and duplication and the ambition of the free nutritious eating program (MBG) carried by the Prabowo government, allegedly overlapping with several similar programs that have existed before," he said.
