JAKARTA - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) targets the placement of 425 thousand Indonesian citizens (WNI) to work abroad by 2025.

"This year, we are targeting the placement abroad of 425 thousand migrant workers or an increase from the previous 297 thousand people. So, there are an additional 128 thousand people," said Deputy Minister for Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Christina Aryani when opening the Jakarta Job Fair "Together East Jakarta, Bersinar Your Career" the first wave at Tamini Square, East Jakarta, Wednesday, February 26, was confiscated by Antara.

According to Christina, this is not impossible because in 2024, the demand for human resources (HR) coming from abroad is 1.3 million.

"Demands that come from abroad are 1.3 million. We have not been able to fulfill that, but hopefully this year, all of this cross-sector collaboration can be an opportunity that we can use," said Christina.

Christina also highlighted the trend of the hashtag "Escape Aja" on social media and for that she invited the public to change their mindset by seeing job opportunities abroad as a more profitable and promising option.

This change in mindset, Christina hopes that more people will take advantage of job opportunities abroad legally and safely, rather than just "disappear" without a clear direction.

"Now we change the hashtag to #work abroad first, it becomes one of the options besides, we can also work domestically. So, the opportunity is unlimited, now we hope today's activities (job fair) will bring tangible results, bring together employers, and bring benefits to us," explained Christina.

In addition, Christina emphasized the importance of collaboration with various parties in finding solutions to unemployment and low labor skills.

This is in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 165 of 2024 concerning the Ministry of P2MI, which now all migrant worker affairs are under one ministry so that coordination is more optimal.

"According to the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, collaboration and synergy between ministries is key. This is a way to optimize various potentials that are owned to support the administration of the President's Astacita and Vice President, especially in the three, namely increasing quality employment opportunities," explained Christina.

Furthermore, Christina also asked the public to remain alert to fraudulent online job vacancies that promise high salaries with conditions that are too easy and unreasonable.

"Often there are ads for work abroad, the salary is 1,000 dollars, there is no need for any conditions, passports are provided. It is definitely fake or fraudulent," said Christina.

To obtain official information regarding work abroad, Christina asked the public to check information through the Ministry of P2MI's Instagram or come directly to the DKI Jakarta Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI).

Meanwhile, in this work market, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government provides 2,000 job vacancies.

The job exchange is held for two days, from Wednesday to Thursday 27 February with 40 participating companies including the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) and the Jakarta Regional Job Training Center (PPKD).
