PDI-P Spokesperson (PDIP) Ahmad Basarah said the relationship between his general chairman, Megawati Soekarnoputri and President Prabowo Subianto was maintained. Communication at the party level is also carried out through the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party who is also Chairman of the MPR Ahmad Muzani.

This was conveyed by Basarah in response to the relationship between the two figures after Megawati issued a daily instruction containing an order to postpone the regional head from PDIP from departing for a retreat in Magelang, Central Java.

"That Mr. Muzani said that even though there were several PDI-P regional heads who did not take part in the retreat, Mr. Muzani firmly said that Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri's relationship with President Prabowo Subianto was still fine," Basarah told reporters at the PDIP DPP office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, February 25.

Basarah said that he had explained to Muzani about the delay. This step was taken to confirm a number of reports that said Megawati had prohibited regional heads from attending the event.

The hope is that this explanation can be an affirmation that there is no problem between Megawati and Prabowo. Likewise with the Gerindra Party.

Moreover, Megawati on various occasions often gave statements that she had a long and good relationship with the General Chair of the Gerindra Party. However, on the other hand, Basarah also mentioned that there are parties who do not want both of them to be fine.

Prabowo, continued Basarah, is also said to know this condition. "So, thank God, until today the relationship between Megawati Soekarnoputri and Pak Prabowo Subianto is still fine, even though we are aware and feel that there are parties who do not want Megawati and Pak Prabowo to be fine," he said.

"But, God willing, Pak Prabowo is aware of this situation so we hope that he can also take steps to maintain good relations with his friend, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri who is also the Fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia," concluded Basarah.
