JAMBI - Police arrested a man with the initials A (32), a resident of Lebak, Banten, who was the perpetrator of sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl in Jambi City.

Director of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Jambi Police, Kombes Manang Soebeti, said that this obscenity action was carried out on February 5, 2025, at a restaurant in the local area.

It is known that the victim is the child of the perpetrator's colleague at the restaurant.

Manang explained that the incident occurred when the victim was left by her mother who was working. When alone, the victim received acts of harassment from the perpetrator.

From the investigation, it was discovered that the victim was smothered and beaten so as not to scream to call his mother. The action was known to the victim's mother because the victim reported it and told the incident.

"The perpetrator covered the victim's mouth and scared the victim," he said in Jambi, Antara, Friday, February 21.

From the results of the post-mortem examination, the victim's genitals suffered injuries, thus confirming evidence of sexual abuse.

Then the victim made a report to the Jambi Police on January 6. The Sub-Directorate of the Renakta Ditreskrimum of the Jambi Police arrested the perpetrator while working at the restaurant on Monday, February 10.

Currently, the perpetrator is being held at the Jambi Police Headquarters and is suspected of Article 82 paragraph 1 Jo 76E and paragraph 2 of Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Child Protection. The perpetrator is threatened with imprisonment for 15 years.

"The incident was only at that time when the perpetrators were involved," he said.
