Russia's FSB Thwarts Terrorist Attacks By Ukrainian Agents Against Officials In Saratov

JAKARTA - The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) managed to prevent a terrorist attack on an official in the Saratov Region, with a special service agency Ukriana preparing for the attack successfully eliminated, the FSB press office said.

"The FSB officers have thwarted a terrorist attack planned by the Ukrainian special service against one of the Saratov Regional government officials involving a Russian citizen born in 1976, who was recruited in Ukraine in 2024," the press office said.

According to the FSB, "thebolage underwent special training in Kiev and was deployed to Russia to carry out terrorist attacks."

"Following action on instructions from the recruiter, the Russian citizen confiscated an explosive device with explosives from a previously equipped storage area that he would use to blow up the official's official's official car," the FSB said.

"During the arrest, the attackers fought armed resistance and were neutralized by retaliatory fire," the FSB said, adding no security officers or civilians were injured.

According to the FSB press office, while planning the crime, Ukrainian agents monitored the travel routes of local government representatives, as well as gathering intelligence information about military airfields inGGels, recording the results of enemy drone attacks on local fuel and energy complex facilities.

A Makarov explosive device and pistol were seized at the scene. The explosives and surveillance equipment used in preparation for the terrorist attack were found at the agent's residence.

It is said that criminal cases have been opened by FSB investigators who work in the Saratov Region. The necessary actions and investigations are being carried out.
