Monas Closed During Clean Rehearsal And Inauguration Of Regional Heads

JAKARTA - The National Monument Area (Monas) will be closed to the public on 19 and 20 February 2025. The closing of Monas was carried out in connection with a clean rehearsal and the inauguration of the elected regional head of the 2024 Pilkada.

Head of the Monas Regional Management Unit (UPK) Muhammad Isa Sanuri apologized for the inconvenience caused by the closure of the Monas area.

"This activity is carried out to ensure the smoothness of the inauguration ceremony which will take place on February 20, 2025 at the Merdeka Palace," Isa told reporters, Tuesday, February 18.

The Monas area will reopen after rehearsals and the inauguration of hundreds of governor-deputy governors, regent-deputy regents, and mayors-deputy mayors have been completed.

"Monas is closed until the galdy and inauguration ceremony is over. It is estimated that by 13.00 it will be opened to the public," said Isa.

A total of 481 regional heads were selected as a result of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections attended a dirty rehearsal on Tuesday, February 18 and a clean rehearsal on Wednesday, February 19. The briefing for the day of the inauguration was held at the National Monument (Monas).

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya said that this briefing to hundreds of elected regional heads was carried out so that the inauguration process would run perfectly.

"This is once in a lifetime and witnessed by all Indonesian people. So it must be very good, as well as practice to be able to be united and together," Bima told reporters.

On Thursday, February 20, the inauguration will be held at the State Palace starting at 10.00 WIB. Later, the regional heads who will be inaugurated will gather in the Monas area and form a line, then move to the Palace to undergo the inauguration.

Therefore, according to Bima, elected regional heads need to take part in rows training through dirty rehearsals and rehearsals at Monas. In the rehearsal which was held in two days, they were also given an explanation of the series of activities.

"Then later in the state palace there will also be a ceremony. It is hoped that all regional heads can carry it out in an orderly and neat manner. So, get used to (gladies) today and tomorrow. This is still in general, tomorrow is a bit more detailed. Tomorrow it will feel smoother," explained Bima.
