Against Trump's Proposal, Egypt Continues To Godify Plans To Build Gaza Without Expeling Palestinians

JAKARTA - Egypt continues to develop plans to rebuild Gaza without forcing Palestinians out of the region, which is against the proposal of the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump.

Citing AP, Tuesday 18 February, the Al-Ahram newspaper reported that Egypt's plan was to prioritize the formation of "safe areas" in Gaza.

Later Palestinians can stay in Gaza amid Egyptian and international construction companies moving and rehabilitating the region's infrastructure.

According to two Egyptian officials and Arab and Western diplomats, Egyptian officials have discussed the plan with European diplomats as well as with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

One Egyptian official and an Arab diplomat added the countries were also discussing ways to fund reconstruction, including an international conference on the reconstruction of Gaza.

The officials and diplomats can speak on condition of anonymity.

The plan comes after an international uproar over Trump's proposal to move a population of about 2 million Palestinians from Gaza.

Trump said the US would take over the Gaza Strip and rebuild it to "Central East Riviera." Trump's proposal includes Palestinians not to be allowed to return to Gaza.
