BATAM - The Head of the Barelang City Police, Kombes Pol. Heribertus Ompusunggu said that the police report against residents of Rempang who were named suspects had been revoked by the complainant who was an employee of PT MEG.

"The reporter and victim withdrew their police reports and statements sincerely and based on humanity. That's the reason that was conveyed to us," Heribertus was confirmed in Batam, Saturday.

The middle-ranking police officer explained that the withdrawal of the report by PT MEG employees took place on Thursday (13/2) at the Barelang Police Headquarters.

The victim, namely an employee of PT MEG, came to the Barelang Police to make a statement with the aim of withdrawing his report and statement regarding the alleged criminal act of confiscation of independence against someone and leading to persecution.

Based on the report, investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police have named three residents of Rempang as suspects. They are Siti Eve alias Mak Awe (67), Sani Rio (37), and Abu Bakar alias Pak Aceh (54).

The three of them underwent examination as suspects at the Barelang Police Headquarters on Thursday (6/2).

Heribertus said the reporter and the victim who were accompanied directly by the Commissioner of PT MEG withdrew the report based on the personal wishes of the victim.

"Because he saw what was suspected in the report, one of them was an elderly woman named Sita Eve, or known as Mak Awe," he said.

Another consideration, he said, was because it was close to the month of Ramadan where Mak Awe and two other people could carry out fasting activities solemnly.

Heribertus emphasized that the revocation of the report by the complainant and the victim came from the will of themselves, the reporter and the victim, without any intervention from any party.

"There is no intervention from any party," he asserted.

According to him, after the report was withdrawn, there were stages of the process carried out by investigators to stop the case, namely conducting a case title involving Propam, the supervision section and the Satreskrim investigators.

"This process is to determine the decision and follow-up of the case," said Heribertus.

This case occurred after clashes between PT MEG employees and residents of Rempung in Sembalang Hulu on 17-18 December 2024.

In addition to receiving reports from PT MEG, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police also received police reports from the Rempang community.

Based on the Rempang community report, investigators from the Barelang Police Satreskim named two employees of PT MEG as suspects in Article 170 of the Criminal Code regarding beatings and Article 351 concerning persecution.

The two suspects with the initials RH (28) and AS (24. The second case, said Heribertus, is still in the process of being investigated.

"The suspect from PT MEG is still in the process of being investigated. However, there have been two police reports from residents who have reconciled and they have issued a restorative justice application to investigators," said Heribertus.
