Prabowo: I'm Embarrassed To Go Again If I'm Disappointed By The People!

JAKARTA - The general chairman of the Gerindra Party who is also the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is willing not to run for the 2029 presidential election if he disappoints the people. Moreover, if the program in his government does not succeed.

This was conveyed by Prabowo during a political speech at the 17th Anniversary of the Gerindra Party which was held in Sentul, West Java, Saturday, February 15.

"You asked me to be willing to be nominated again in 2029. I said that if my programs were not successful, there was no need for my candidate to continue," said Prabowo.

"If it disappoints people's trust, I am ashamed to move forward again," continued Prabowo, who was then greeted with applause from the invitees and cadres who attended the event.

Prabowo wants to see Indonesia become a great country even since childhood. "I swear. Similar to my seniors there, there is nothing that we want power for our own greatness," he said.

He also believes that this statement applies to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who was present at the event.

"Pak Jokowi, I'm sure I don't have the ambition to make this and make it," he said.

This belief, continued Prabowo, arose because he had joined the government for the second period of Jokowi. "I am a witness, his thoughts are only for the Indonesian people," he said.

"Later he said I was controlled by Mr. Jokowi, stupid," added the former Minister of Defense.

Hearing this statement, Jokowi then laughed. Likewise with the invited guests and cadres who attended.

"Why are you making a fuss, I didn't say anything," he said.

As previously reported, the Gerindra Party decided to support Prabowo Subianto, who is the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as the general chairman, to run for the 2029 presidential election.

This decision was taken through the Extraordinary Gerindra Party Congress (KLB) which was held at Prabowo's residence in Hambalang, West Java, Thursday, February 13. Representatives of all administrators of the DPP, DPD and DPC Gerindra throughout Indonesia who attended the KLB agreed with the decision.

Then, this activity also gave birth to several decisions, namely receiving the accountability report of the Gerindra Party DPP for the 2020-2025 period.
