At The World Forum, President Prabowo Admits Indonesia's Corruption Level Is Worrying

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto acknowledged that the level of corruption in Indonesia is already worrying and has become a basic problem for declining performance in all sectors.

President Prabowo, who was unable to attend the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, answered questions from Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio about the low level of education in Indonesia, research and development, and innovations stemming from the high number of corruption in Indonesia.

"I'm sure that our basic problem is that something has happened, I don't know if it's a decline in moral leadership, a decline in social leadership. However, the level of corruption in my country is very worrying," Prabowo said via video from the World Government Summit YouTube account which was witnessed in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, February 14.

The President is also determined to use all the energy and authority he has to try to overcome corruption, which he sees as a disease, as well as the root of all declining performance in these various sectors.

In his remarks at the forum, the Head of State is committed to being firm in eradicating corruption and maladministration. According to Prabowo, courage is needed to realize a clean government, and recognize that corruption is a weakness and weakness in this country.

After 100 days of running the government, Prabowo also highlighted the level of satisfaction with the government's high performance from the community, reaching 81 percent, surpassing Prabowo's percentage of victory in the presidential election.

Prabowo assessed that the public had received messages related to the government's efforts so that no individual could be above the law.

"Our actions have proven that no one is above the law, those who are considered untouched are now being held accountable," Prabowo said.

Prabowo also revealed that all forms of corruption, such as misuse of government funds, embezzlement, low taxes that only side with entrepreneurs, have been felt by the community.

Therefore, Prabowo also revealed his reasons for efficiency in ministries/agencies of up to 20 billion US dollars, to allocate these funds in various strategic and sustainable projects,

"After 100 days, I managed to save 20 billion US dollars. I'm sure that if I don't keep the money, the money will just disappear. I'm facing some deep-rooted resistance from the bureaucracy. Some of them think they are untouched, but I'm determined to move, I'm determined to enforce the law," said Prabowo.
