JAKARTA - President Masoud Pezeshkian said the United States had no intention of being involved in negotiations with Iran, more like Tehran to comply with Washington's wishes.
Speaking to a group of people in Bushehr, southern Iran on Thursday, President Pezeshkian questioned US President Donald Trump's true intentions.
"We're not saying we're not negotiating, but (President) Trump can't impose any kind of sanctions on us and then talk about negotiations. Why does he block food, water and medicine from us?" said President Pezeshkian, quoted from IRNA on February 14.
"They don't want negotiations," he added, "they want us to submit to them. But we will not be made subject."
President Pezeshkian said Iran would be able to solve the problem by relying on themselves and owning a roadmap.
"The enemy will not be able to block our way. We will find our way," said President Pezeshkian.
On Wednesday, President Pezeshkian said Iran's situation should not be associated with foreign decisions. He said Iranian youth must have the skills and find a desire to achieve success and solve Iran's problems.
On February 5, President Trump signed a presidential memorandum to continue "maximum pressure" on Iran.
Since before signing the memo, the US president has also spoken about his desire to hold talks and reach an agreement with Iran. Much earlier in his first term, President Trump withdrew the United States from the multilateral nuclear deal.
